Home to Tiki Oasis, the Caliente Tropics is not to be missed! Truely one of the best preserved Tiki Paradises we have left. The joint has a history- and that's a good thing!

We've made two trips to the Palm Springs Area in the last two years. Here are several albums full of Desert Polynesia. Unfortunately, not a great deal remains of this once mighty Tiki nirvana. Two Galleries lurk within- comparisons between our 2003 and 2005 trips to the Caliente Tropics and the now defunct Tiki Spa.

The only mainland U.S. Haleiwa Joe's location, just outside Palm Springs in Rancho Mirage. The building is an architectural masterpiece, inside full of exposed wood and glass. Not so much Tiki, per se- but with their own version of a Mai Tai and other exotic drinks, excellent food, and soft Hawai'ian music, I highly recommend it! Some nights they feature Hula dancers and musicians! This album also includes some really lousy low light cell phone camera pix- please forgive the less than optimal equipment. Meanwhile check out- http://www.haleiwajoes.com/

A an impoverished stepchild of the Tropics hotel line built by Ken Kimes. (I can just hear it crying now, "Mo-om! Caliente got all the good Tikis!")Indio's Tropics boasts little more than excellent neon at night.
