This is a tribute page the the Hawaii Kai which held the original Lounge of the Seven Pleasures as but one of several rooms within the complex. To understand our bar- and love for all things Tiki, one must first study the Hawaii Kai- alongside other such Temples now gone.

Shecky is TikiCentral's mascot mug. We are proud owners of #60, and from time to time he travels with us. These are some of his postcards back to the Tiki Centralites just to let them know what he's been up to.

A late in the year visit to the Columbus, Ohio's Tropical Bistro. These are from late in the evening, so we could get lots of pix of the space itself.

The HRHH2 was the second big annual event thrown by the Fraternal Order of Maoi (http://www.fraternalorderofmoai.org/), and the Drifters.
It was a weekend long extravaganza that kicked off with the Feast of the Gods at the Tropical Bistro (new home to many former employees of the famed Kahiki), then went north on Saturday up to Largo's Tavern. With a parking lot filled with vintage rides, and a bar filled with exotic libations, ono grinds, venders, Barnyard Burlesque, custom mugs and a full slate of excellent bands, the HRHH2 was a high energy labor of love!

As part of our trip out to Ohio in June, we met up with Central Ohio Tiki Ohana and Fraternal Order of the Moai friends. This was my first trip to the Tropical Bistro, and my first smoking erruption since the close of the Kahiki. What began as a few friends getting together for dinner and a drink grew into an event mentioned in the local alterna-paper and a room full of Tikiphiles! Mahalo for making my first trip to the Tropical Bistro so special!

We only made it to the Kona Kai once while it was open, and we had no camera with us. I really regret not being able to photograph it in its heyday. It was a vastly scaled down version of the one time Kona Kai formerly of the Marriot in Philly. The Kona Kai Bamboo Grill featured water ponds, Japanese hibachi steak tables, a large glass case with artifacts from the original and from time to time, a Polynesian revue. Unfortunately, it also featured Karaoke. In the spring of 2006 we returned with a camera, but were only able to take photographs of the now passed on remains of the restaurant.

While out in SF, we had the opportunity to spend a special evening with an old friend at the new Trader Vic's in downtown San Francisco. There's plenty of Tiki in this recently opened treasure. Plenty of Rums showcased, too! I've left the overlapping pictures of the rums in this set in case viewers want to try to identify individual bottles- eventually, we'll rework some of the overlapping pix into "stitched" mosaics, (where many pictures are joined into a single image).

These quick snapshots were taken at the Luxurious Moai Lounge in Maryland; Scottiki and Jen's (Mr. & Mrs. Moai's) home bar. The Moai Lounge is truely, a poly-pop 'classic', one of the greats!
The attention to detail in the Moai Lounge is phenominal, from the bamboo entry bridge right down to the drink garnishes!
After having missed their grand opening, OakTiki and I were able to make their second party, aptly dubbed "Moai Lounge 2: Electric Boogaloo"!
Regretably, these pictures are from AFTER everyone had headed home for the night, so these are the 'after' pictures, not the 'before's. Plenty of evidence of mixological carnage- but no worries- just evidence a good time was had by all!
