This is a tribute page the the Hawaii Kai which held the original Lounge of the Seven Pleasures as but one of several rooms within the complex. To understand our bar- and love for all things Tiki, one must first study the Hawaii Kai- alongside other such Temples now gone.

Shecky is TikiCentral's mascot mug. We are proud owners of #60, and from time to time he travels with us. These are some of his postcards back to the Tiki Centralites just to let them know what he's been up to.

A few pictures documenting Chef Kwok's Duck Carving tableside ritual and a few of the drinks at the Shanghai Village in Bethesda, MD. SV is legendary in its own right, and one of the few remaining Maryland outposts of genuine Tiki exotic cocktail mixology.

In digging through the "Images of America" book on "Columbia" (Maryland) I happened across a tantalizing photographic gem, an image of what was once "Tiki Island!" Further research into this little piece of long forgotten Maryland Tiki is clearly called for.

A portion of the local tribe gathered for an `Aina ahiahi (or "Evening meal") at Fins. Afterwards some of us traveled up to Baltimore for a Fraternal Order of Moai (http://www.fraternalorderofmoai.org) Meet and Greet hosted at Turbogod's Tacky Techie Tiki Bar" where we were happily joined by still more folks.

A local gathering of the MD/DC (VA) Tiki tribe held at TikiJ's (as of yet unnamed) fabulous bar/lounge. Some of our Fraternal Order of the Moai extended Ohana were down from New England for a very special evening. A marvelous assortment of rums made a special appearance courtesy of http://scottesrum.com/.

The Fraternal Order of Moai, or FOM, threw their fourth annual Hot Rod Hula Hop (HRHH) in Columbus at Largo's Tavern. Friday night's "Feast of the Tiki Gods" was once again, incredible, right down to the Roast Kalua Pig! We were serenaded by Francis Llacuna (who used to play at the Tropical Bistro) and later on we were treated to breathtaking hula by Leilani Duteil. Saturday, Largo's parking lot filled with Tiki vendors, and magnificent custom and vintage hot rods, rolling labours of love. As dusk fell, Lucky, The Painproof Man put on his incredible sideshow performance. Later on in the evening, Barnyard Burlesque did a special show created just for the HRHH. Both nights the bands and musicians; Pablus, Waitiki, Vegas 66, Go Tsunami, the Cocktail Preachers, The Heptanes, and the Koffin Kats were fantastic! The HRHH is one of my favourite Tiki events, it's unlike any of the other events I've been to. It has a very special vibe and is put on by some incredibly special people.
